American Association of Geographers AAG is a scientific and educational society founded in 1904. Its 8,400+ members share interests in the theory, methods, and practice of geography and geographic education.

Association of American State Geologists AASG is an organization of the chief executives of the state geological surveys in 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Association of Canadian Map Libraries and Archives

ACMLA (ACACC) actively serves as the representative professional group for Canadian map librarians, cartographic archivists and others interested in geographic information in all formats.
Boston Map Society BMS has its home in the Harvard Map Collection. The society was formed in 1994 to bring together people with an interest in collecting, studying, using, and preserving maps.
California Map Society CMS was founded in 1978. The mission is educational: to preserve and disseminate historical and contemporary cartography, primarily of California, for members as well as the general public.
International Map Trade Association IMTA brings together in one organization, for mutual benefit persons, firms and institutions engaged, directly or indirectly, in the production and sale of maps, globes, travel guides, spatial information and related products and materials.
New York Map Society The New York Map Society offers educational, academic and research programs for anyone interested in maps. The Society serves as a community-based organization to participate and inform the public of map-related events.
North American Cartographic Information Society NACIS, founded in 1980, is an organization comprised of specialists from private, academic, and government organizations whose common interest lies in facilitating communication in the map information community.
North East Map Organization NEMO is dedicated to serving as a unifying body for all who use, produce, collect, and market maps and cartographic information in the Northeast; increasing communication between all interested in maps; and working with state, regional, and national organizations and government agencies in dissemination of maps and cartographic information.
Society for the History of Discoveries SHD was founded in 1960 to stimulate interest in teaching, research and publishing of the history of geographical exploration. SHD encompasses the discovery, exploration and mapping of the earth's land and sea surface from earliest times to the present.
SLA Geography and Map Section SLA G&M Division was one of the 25 subject divisions within the Special Libraries Association (SLA) until 2003, when it officially became a section of the Social Science Division. The G&M Division was established in 1941 to encompass all aspects of the production, procurement, processing, and utilization of geographic and cartographic materials and includes the professions of geography and map librarianship.
Texas Map Society TMS was organized in November 1996 to foster the study, understanding and collecting of historical maps and the history of cartography.
Washington Map Society WMS, founded in 1979, supports and promotes map collecting, cartography, and cartographic history.
Western Association of Map Libraries WAML is an independent association of map librarians and other people with an interest in maps and map librarianship.
William P. Cumming Map Society The William P. Cumming Map Society often meets at the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) in Salem, NC.

This cartobibliography contains descriptions of approximately 6700 maps found in 470 books. Entries are arranged alphabetically by author/title, and each entry lists every map included in the book with the full title, dimensions, name(s) of any publisher, engraver or cartographer appearing on the map, and the page location within the work cited.
History of Cartography The History of Cartography Project is a research, editorial, and publishing venture drawing international attention to the history of maps and mapping. The Project's major work is the multi-volume History of Cartography series.
Pennsylvania Maps Prior to 1800 A cartobibliography of all printed and manuscript maps of Pennsylvania in the Geography & Map Division, Library of Congress and unique maps of Pennsylvania located in other libraries (not found in the Library of Congress).
