HIV Prevention Resources

Prevention is the only long-term, sustainable means to suppress the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. As such, PEPFAR seeks to prevent 12 million new infections by 2013. In addition to providing direct technical assistance to Ministries of Health and other partner organizations in resource-constrained countries, CDC is helping to reach this goal by providing leadership in the development of critical HIV prevention resources.

Couples HIV Counseling and Testing Intervention and Training Curriculum

Through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), CDC has collaborated with the Rwanda Zambia HIV Research Group (RZHRG), the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), and other national and international partners to develop the Couples HIV Counseling and Testing (CHCT) Intervention and Training Curriculum. The curriculum was developed in response to increased demand from field partners for interventions and training that would help them address the complex issues related to HIV counseling and testing with couples, who currently constitute the largest risk group in Africa for HIV transmission.
