Alfonso Robles
As the Chief Counsel, Alfonso Robles holds the highest legal office in U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). He was appointed to this position in September 1999 after previously serving as Deputy Chief Counsel from May 1998 to December 1999.

From 1995 to 1998, Mr. Robles served as the first Director, Customs Management Center (CMC), for the Caribbean Area. Between 1991 and 1995, he served as the District Director, San Juan. Prior to that, from 1982 to 1991, he served as a staff attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel with particular expertise in international trade matters. Prior to his career with Customs and CBP, he clerked for an admiralty law firm in Philadelphia and the Federal Maritime Commission.

Mr. Robles is a 1982 graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and is a member of the D.C. Bar.
