Gregory H. Friedman was nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Energy in 1998. Mr. Friedman started his Federal career in 1968 and has been with the Department of Energy, Office of Inspector General, since 1982. As Inspector General, he is responsible for a nationwide, independent program of audits, inspections, and law enforcement efforts related to the Department of Energy’s programs and operations. In addition to his responsibilities as Inspector General, Mr.
Virginia Grebasch was appointed Counsel to the Inspector General in August, 2012. She provides comprehensive legal advice to the Inspector General and senior leadership, and serves as the primary liaison to Congressional staff.
Deputy Inspector General for Management and Administration
Linda J. Snider was appointed the Deputy Inspector General for Management and Administration in December 2010. Prior to this she was the Assistant Inspector General for Resource Management.
John R. Hartman became the Deputy Inspector General for Investigation in December 2010. Prior to this he was the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations. Mr. Hartman is responsible for all investigations of the Department’s programs and operations, which includes over 70 facilities and 100,000+ Federal and contractor employees. He directs a Federal workforce of Special Agents located across the country.
Deputy Inspector General for Audits and Inspections
Rickey R. Hass was appointed as the Deputy Inspector General for Audits and Inspections in December 2010. Prior to this, he was the Deputy Inspector General for Audit Services. In his current position, he directs a Federal workforce of professional auditors and inspectors serving at 13 major Department of Energy sites across the country. Mr. Hass is responsible for all audits, inspections and related reviews of the Department’s programs and activities.
George W. Collard was appointed Assistant Inspector General for Audits in December 2010. He manages all audits of the Department’s programs and activities in the Office of Inspector General's Central and Western Divisions. Mr. Collard directs the planning, execution, and reporting on program results, contract administration, and economy and efficiency of each of the Department’s major program areas. In this capacity, he leads a professional staff located in 11 geographical locations. Prior to his current position Mr.
Assistant Inspector General for Audits and Administration
Daniel M. Weeber was appointed Assistant Inspector General for Audits and Administration in July 2012. He directs the planning, execution and reporting of all audits for the Eastern Audits Division, which include the annual financial statement audit, information technology audits, special reviews, and performance reviews of the Department’s major programs. Mr.
Sandra D. Bruce became the Assistant Inspector General for Inspections and Special Inquiries in November 2009. Ms. Bruce has full leadership responsibility for all aspects of the programs, operations, and policies of the Office of Inspector General's Office of Inspections. She leads a professional staff located in four geographical locations.
Michael S. Milner became the Assistant Inspector General for Investigation in July 2012. Prior to this he was Director of the Computer Crime Investigative Unit with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Mr. Milner is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Office of Investigations.
