Welcome to the HHS Evaluation Database Center

Our Mission

TheHHS Evaluation Database Center provides technical assistance and support to the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation and the Office of the Secretary as requested. The Center maintains numerous database applications and offers auxiliary technical support services; publishes ASPE materials; and contains a comprehensive library. In addition, the Policy Information Center provides exemplary customer service by employing a competent, professional, caring, and approachable staff that offers proactive solutions.

The Center implements and oversees the ASPE publication process, including policy and issue briefs, reports, research summaries and annual overviews. We provide information management services through several different Web-based applications. These services are accessible through the ASPE Web site and the ASPE Intranet.

The Center maintains a professional library with a concentration on health and human service issues. The library hosts a collection of evaluation studies sponsored by HHS; offers research services for ASPE and the Department; and provides training on information search techniques.

ASPE provides policy analysis and advice to the Secretary by administering evaluation, data collection, demonstration and other research projects that provide information needed for HHS policy development; and the Policy Information Center provides the resources for ASPE staff to maintain a reputation for high-quality research and comprehensive analysis in meeting this objective.

HHS Evaluation Database

The policy research and evaluation collection is the centralized, authoritative HHS repository for all studies sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services as well as relevant studies of other federal departments and agencies. Selected privately-sponsored reports are also included.

  • Performance Improvement
The Performance Improvement report series is the Department's annual report to Congress presenting the fiscal year portfolio of evaluations completed and in progress for each HHS agency and the Office of the Secretary. The report is intended for policy and program decision-makers as a reference source to recent evaluation findings with information on locating reports or contacting the appropriate Federal project officials.
