The Department of Veterans Affairs Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships (CFBNP) is inviting you and members of your organization to participate in our second Quarterly Conference Call for fiscal year 2013.

The purpose of our Quarterly Conference Call is to provide you, our ListServ members, with information about VA programs and services that will assist you in serving the needs of our Veterans, their families, survivors, and caregivers.  The Quarterly Conference Call also provides an opportunity for an interactive discussion among participants.

1:00 p.m. - 1:10 p.m. Welcome and Updates - Rev. E. Terri LaVelle, Director, Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
 
1:10 p.m. -2:00 p.m. Guest speaker- Brent Elrod, Acting Division Director – Family & Consumer Sciences and National Program Leader – Strategic Partnerships, United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).  QCC topic - What’s USDA Got to Do With It ?: Veterans and Military Families.

Mr. Elrod will describe some of the collaborative efforts they have undertaken that serve military and Veteran families, present highlights of specific projects that support caregivers of Wounded Warriors and survivors of the Fallen, and share exciting developments that are underway across the Department of Agriculture.

2:00 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. Q & A and Closing Remarks

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is announcing the availability of funds for supportive services grants under the SSVF Program. This Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) contains information concerning the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program, initial and renewal supportive services grant application processes, and amount of funding available.

Mission Statement 

To develop partnerships and provide relevant information to faith-based and non-governmental organizations and expand their participation in VA programs to better serve the needs of Veterans, their families, and survivors.

Vision

The VA Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships will cultivate and develop relationships with faith-based and non-governmental organizations working with them as partners to serve our Veterans, their families, and survivors.

The VA Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships through its outreach efforts will provide opportunities for external partners to expand their understanding of and participation in VA programs.

Purpose

Build partnerships between government agencies, faith-based and community organizations to better serve Veterans, their families and survivors.

Support the four priorities identified by President Obama and the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

  • Strengthening the Role of Community Organizations in the Economic Recovery,
  • Reducing Unintended Pregnancies, Supporting Maternal and Child Health, and Reducing the Need for Abortion,
  • Promoting Responsible Fatherhood and Strong Communities; and
  • Fostering Interfaith Dialogue and Cooperation.
