Working Agenda

The following is the working agenda for the OASIS Biometric Technical Committee (TC) Kickstart to be held at the 2012 Biometric Consortium Conference in Tampa FL.

The meeting is scheduled for 19 September 2012, 10:40 AM to noon, in Room 12 at the Tampa Convention Center.

This agenda is intended to be a starting point for the meeting. It is subject to change as we receive feedback, and during the meeting itself to accommodate the interests of the attendees.

The OASIS BIAS TC has drafted a proposed charter for the new OASIS Biometrics TC.

Introduction (Kevin Mangold, NIST and Ross Micheals, NIST)

The meeting will be called to order and the major goal of the meeting, creation of a new OASIS technical committee, will be presented.

OASIS Overview with Q&A (Dee Shur, OASIS and Carol Geyer, OASIS)

A representative from OASIS will give an overview of the OASIS organization and describe:

  • mission and purpose of OASIS
  • member benefits
  • how to get involved
  • a brief overview of the TC process

OASIS BIAS SOAP Profile TC History (Cathy Tilton, Daon)

The speaker will provide a brief overview of the history of the OASIS BIAS TC (from 2006 to 2012), and discuss the movement of maintenance of the standard into the new Biometrics TC

Purpose of New TC (Kevin Mangold, NIST)

The scope and goals of the new TC, as described in the latest draft charter, will be presented. Specifically, the proposed charter states that the TC will work on:

  • biometrics related projects as decided by the TC
  • maintenance of the BIAS OASIS Standard
  • maintenance of the XCBF OASIS Standard
  • standardization of WS-Biometric Devices

WS-Biometric Devices (Ross Micheals, NIST)

A brief overview of the WS-Biometric Devices specification will be given.

Possible new work items & discussion (all participants, facilitated by NIST)

At this time, attendees will be welcome to introduce ideas for new work items for consideration by the new TC.

Discussions should focus on idea generation, and not on whether or not a particular proposal should move forward.

Question & Answer (all participants, facilitated by NIST)

At this time, NIST will facilitate an open question and answer period.

Call for participation (all participants, facilitated by NIST)

At this time, attendees will be encouraged to announce their intent to participate in the new TC.

Announcements would be only notices of interest or intent and do not have to be either binding or represent the interest of the attendee's organizational affiliation.

Adjourn

At this time, the meeting will officially adjourn, and arrangements for how the conversations can continue either at BCC, or elsewhere will be discussed.
