Potential Airport Impacts of Federal "Sequestration"

There have been numerous media reports that mandatory federal budget cuts called “sequestration” could eventually reduce federal agency staffing and inconvenience air travelers. While the airport facilities will continue to operate normally, we are monitoring the TSA, FAA and CBP for specific information regarding passenger screening, air traffic control and customs processing. Eligible TSA Pre✓™ passengers include U.S. citizens flying on participating airlines as well as those who are members of CBP Trusted Traveler programs, including Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS. Individuals interested in participating can apply by visiting

Real-Time Security Wait Times - Click here!

Dulles has a video analytics system that automatically calculates wait times at the Main Terminal’s east and west security mezzanine checkpoints. The wait times are displayed in real time in the terminal and here on the website. Click here to view wait times on your smartphone. Since both mezzanines are connected beyond security, passengers have the option to select the line with the shorter wait.
