Healthy as the Healthier Feds

From the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, I'm Ira Dreyfuss with HHS HealthBeat.

A lean and efficient federal work force is the goal, and the Healthier Feds campaign is trying to do it one federal worker at a time. The campaign's Physical Activity Challenge is under way. Current employees, retirees and family members are trying to rack up activity points so their agency beats the other agencies – and, more importantly, for good health.

They're doing it through their Web site at www.healthierfeds.gov. But non-feds can take on the same activities and keep track similarly – through presidentschallenge.org – and maybe beat the federal worker down the street.

Fitness leader Denise Austin, who's a member of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, is cheering us on:

"Just move those muscles, because you can do it! You'll look and feel great!" (5 seconds)
