Increasing the Diversity of the NIH-Funded Workforce

The NIH recognizes a unique and compelling need to promote diversity in the biomedical, behavioral, clinical, and social sciences research workforce. As one component of a broad, trans-NIH strategy to address this need, the Common Fund is establishing the “Increasing the Diversity of the NIH-Funded Workforce” program, which aims to unify and strengthen institutions and faculty dedicated to the recruitment and retention of diverse scientists.

NEW! Funding Opportunity Announcements for Planning Grants


The Increasing the Diversity of the NIH-Funded Workforce program is seeking applications for Planning Grants for the Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD) and National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN). These planning grants are intended to support the development of partnerships that are anticipated to be helpful (but not required) for future Funding Opportunities for the implementation of BUILD and NRMN.
