CORI research can help improve surgical outcomes

The Clinical Outcomes Research Initiative, or CORI, was developed to study outcomes of gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopic procedures in "real life" settings, using data obtained from the CORI Endoscopic Reporting Software which we install and help you manage, or from other endoscopic reporting software.

The CORI software has been in use in hospitals, universities and private practices since 1995, with sites all across the United States. The CORI v4 Endoscopic Reporting Software is a specialty Electronic Health Record used to document endoscopic procedures and provide reporting services to your practice.

Data from participating providers is also sent to a central data repository to become part of the National Endoscopic Database (NED), which now contains data from over 2.7 million GI procedures. The CORI v4 Endoscopic Reporting Software offers significant benefits for participating practices, providers and patients, as well as for everyone who benefits from CORI's research efforts.

This data has been analyzed to:

  • examine endoscopic practice patterns
  • develop research hypotheses
  • for prospective research on topics such as colon polyp surveillance
  • support quality measure reporting.

This research has resulted in over 60 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals , including JAMA, Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and numerous abstracts covering a wide range of endoscopic topics. View a listing of recent CORI publications.
