The Public Policy Office of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), located in the nations capitol, is a national leader in the effort to develop and influence federal and state legislation that positively affects the lives of domestic violence victims and their children. NCADV works closely with domestic violence victims and advocates at the local, state and national levels to identify the issues facing both domestic violence victims and their children, and the people who serve them. We also work to develop a national legislative agenda to address these issues and to represent before elected officials the over 2,000 NCADV members and coalition partners.

The Public Policy Office lobbies Congress, monitors and analyzes state and federal legislative developments and common law, and provides information about pending policy initiatives to shelters, state coalitions, and other grassroots advocates. We provide information and technical assistance to Congressional members, and we work to educate the public on the epidemic of domestic violence and the impact of positive legislative efforts. The Public Policy Office works in coalition with other organizations fighting worldwide to end violence and oppression in the lives of women, and all human beings.

NCADV annually provides an opportunity for domestic violence victims, local programs, and advocates to meet with their Members of Congress to discuss pertinent anti-violencelegislation.Legislative Action Daytakes place in Washington, DC every spring/summer. If you are interested in attending Legislative Action Day, please click here for more information, or contact the Public Policy Office at (202) 745-1211 or publicpolicy@ncadv.org.
