The VA Building Utilization Review and Repurposing (BURR) initiative has identified underutilized land at the VA Midwest Health Care System, St. Cloud Campus in St. Cloud, MN for a long-term ground lease. The campus consists of approximately 218 acres. The campus is eligible for the historical designation, but not on the registered list. Under the enhanced-use lease (EUL) proposal, underutilized property will be repurposed as housing for homeless Veterans and Veterans at-risk of homelessness.
The potential EUL site contains the following parcel of underutilized land:
- one parcel of approximately 6 acres of undeveloped land located on the northwest side of the campus.
- The parcel is basically flat with a modest amount of trees.
- Utilities connection are within close proximity to the site.
- The site has no known environmental issues.

- In an ongoing effort to eliminate homelessness among Veterans and their families, VA is proceeding with an agreement with a third-party provider to provide 35 permanent units of housing.
- The Request for Proposal closed October 20, 2011.
- A list of questions and answers from the recent site tour is now available.
