Statement by Pentagon Press Secretary George Little on Secretary Hagel's Upcoming Travel to the Republic of Korea and Japan
Secretary Chuck Hagel will depart Washington on Saturday, Sept. 28 for the Republic of Korea to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the U.S.-Republic of Korea alliance, participate in the 45th Security Consultative Meeting, and preside over the U.S. Forces Korea change of command ceremony. He will also visit U.S. and ROK troops to thank them for their service and maintaining a high degree of readiness and cooperation.
Secretary Hagel will depart Seoul for Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday, Oct. 2. While in Japan, Secretary Hagel will join Secretary of State John Kerry for the U.S.-Japan Security Consultative Committee and meet with U.S. service members stationed in Japan.
Secretary Hagel will return to Washington on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013.
