NWP activists watching Alice Paul Sew Star on Flag
Alice Paul sews a star on to the Ratification Banner. The National Woman's Party kept track of the number of states that had ratified the 19th Amendment by sewing gold stars on to a large purple, white, and gold banner. Thirty-six states needed to ratify the Susan B. Anthony Amendment for it to become the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution.
