With vaccine rollout comes onslaught of disinformation

Opinion by Samantha Vinograd
The rollout of the Pfizer vaccine is welcome news for this country. But as states gear up for a vaccination roll out of epic proportions and Americans start receiving their first doses, they will need to be on heightened alert for Russian disinformation attacks. Based on the country's long history of health-related disinformation and their more recent operations surrounding the virus, Vladimir Putin likely sees this period as a moment of opportunity to hurt the US further.

Attack on Jill Biden's 'Dr.' title is no surprise for women scholars -- and proof that she needs to use it

Opinion by Kara Alaimo
On Friday, The Wall Street Journal had the audacity to publish an op-ed arguing that incoming First Lady Jill Biden should not use the title "Dr." in the White House. The piece, written by Joseph Epstein, a man who has not earned an advanced degree (though he was given an honorary one), argues that it would be "fraudulent" and "comic" for Dr. Biden to use the Doctor of Education, or Ed.D., title that she has earned.

Serena Williams: It's time for Silicon Valley to take Black women entrepreneurs seriously

Opinion by Serena Williams for CNN Business Perspectives
My life story is one of breaking barriers and championing inclusion, on and off the court. Coming up in a predominately White male sport, I have been underestimated and underpaid throughout my career. Now, as a venture capitalist investing in early-stage startups, I see myself in the Black female founders who are often counted out right from the start.

The 126 Republicans who signed on for 'an act of cynical, unpatriotic, undemocratic hypocrisy'

Opinion by John Avlon
Republicans used to be the party of freedom, the party of President Abraham Lincoln. This week, 126 Republicans in Congress and 18 red state attorneys general decided to repudiate the legacy of Lincoln and freedom by endorsing Texas' ludicrous legal effort to overturn the election results. The good news is that the Supreme Court dismissed the case with no public dissents Friday night. The bad news is that a majority of congressional Republicans chose to support a demagogue over our democracy. It should not be forgotten or forgiven.
