This site provides general updates on the Medicare Part C and Part D Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) Program. The information is updated on an as need basis. Visitors to this site should check the page regularly for the latest updates.

CMS/CPI’s Division of Plan Oversight and Accountability (DPOA) is responsible for safeguarding the integrity of the Part C and Part D programs. DPOA is also tasked with implementing the Part D RAC Program.

Part D RAC activity is now underway.

  • Part D plan sponsors began receiving Notice of Improper Payment (NIP) letters from the Part D RAC in June 2012.
