This week we had 80 new APIs added to our API directory including a cloud platform resource scaling service, civic information service, car insurance rate comparison service, text to speech service and digital content promotion services. We also looked at an emergency notification system now available via API.
This past week 7 new mashups were added to our mashup directory and 13 different APIs were used to build them. Some of the newer or less frequently seen APIs include Amazon Product Advertising, App.net, Highrise, National Weather Service NDFD and WebKnox. The most often used APIs this week are Facebook, National Weather Service NDFD and Twitter. And the most commonly used types of APIs were Music (3 APIs, 3 mashups), Social (3 APIs, 4 mashups) and Weather (1 APIs, 1 mashups).

Unlike many types of information, API documentation is not meant to be read front-to-back, but is meant to be scanned for relevant information. This means that the look-and-feel should be very clean.
