This is long overdue and so much wasted energy over the last few years. The fires have been very bad for everyone. Air quality, tourism, loss of property & homes. and the list goes on. This needs to be done. The beetle kill has left our forest a tinderbox for destruction. Manage and use the trees before they get destroyed by beetles and fires. More trees grow. They can be managed and used.

A bipartisan group of western senators asked Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to support proactive forest management, utilizing the timber industry, to reduce fuel loads in wildfire-prone areas and improve community safety throughout the West. Senators John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Tim Johnson (D-S.D.), John Thune (R-S.D.) signed onto the letter, led by Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.).
