Chairman Joe Heck of the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service released the following statement on the passing of Paul A. Volcker.
Today, on Patriot Day, the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service remembers the innocent lives lost, the bravery of those who responded, and the remarkable spirit of unity and compassion that swept the country in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks eighteen years ago. In honoring the victims, first responders, and citizens who stood up to serve our nation, Commissioners joined millions of Americans and participated in the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. 
The National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service will hold two hearings on June 20 exploring policy options on how to create an expectation of service at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park.
