Description:From this Disease Surveillance home page visitors can access the Michigan Weekly Disease Surveillance Report. It provides a summary of reportable diseases confirmed or under investigation in Michigan. Most of the information pertains to human health but some animal information is provided.
From introduction: "The data in the Weekly Disease Report are provisional, based on current reports to MDCH (Michigan Department of Community Health) by local health departments." The system used to generate these reports is the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). [It is a] dynamic, continually active system: counts of disease are constantly changing as cases are investigated, confirmed as cases, or ruled out as not meeting the case definition. The Weekly Disease Report reflects this constant activity as the numbers slightly fluctuate each week. Therefore, it should be kept in mind that numbers in the Weekly Disease Report are NOT final and should be used only to generally monitor trends over time."
