This site is designed to provide images, animations, and video for classroom and outreach learning. To supplement the visual information, each file has a description and metadata including the origins and ownership for the image.

We encourage you to submit your images to be published in the Gallery. The Submission Directions button in the navigation box at the right provides suggestions to expedite submitting an image. The Submit an Image buttons at the top or at the right lead to step by step instructions to submit an image.

The site is searchable by inserting keywords in the Search Images box at the top left, or you may Browse by Subject from the buttons at the left.

Each file in the Gallery has had at least two peer reviews to optimize the image and its metadata, and to ensure that the information is sufficient and accurate. Anyone finding an image with potentially faulty information is urged to bring this to the attention of the Editor-in-Chief or the appropriate Section Editor.

When submitting an image to this site, the submitter asserts that the ownership of the image permits the image to be freely used for educational purposes under standard fair use guidelines. Please review the Copyright and Use Terms for the gallery.

The Animal Science Image Gallery is a collaborative project of the USDA National Agricultural Library and the American Society of Animal Science. ASAS oversees the peer review process required of new submissions before they are accepted into the Gallery. The National Agricultural Library manages the Image Gallery website and the holdings after they are accepted.
