Recognizing the Faces of Homeland Security: Heroes on the Front Lines

One of the most gratifying parts of my job is meeting DHS employees who are dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of communities across the country. People are often surprised to learn that almost 90 percent of the men and women of DHS are not located in the Washington, DC area, but work in all 50 states and in 75 countries around the world.

The Ombudsman's Office Releases 2011 Annual Report

Ombudsman January Contreras submitted the 2011 Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman's Annual Report to Congress. This year's Annual Report identifies ways of solving some of the issues that stakeholders may experience with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

"Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will travel to Madrid and Vienna on June 30-July 1 to meet with her international counterparts to discuss collaborative efforts between the United States and its partners to effectively share information while protecting individual privacy, strengthen the security of the global supply chain, and combat terrorism and other transnational threats."

Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign Announces Public Service Announcement Challenge Winners

In an event held at the White House, Secretary Napolitano, Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard A. Schmidt recognized the winners of the Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign's Public Service Announcement (PSA) Challenge for their contributions to the campaign's efforts to encourage Internet safety among Americans, and also announced the launch of a new Stop.Think.Connect website.
