Course Introduction
Welcome to the Testing HTML for Section 508 Compliance Course.
Purpose
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires that electronic and information technology (E&IT) conform to specific standards designed to insure accessibility by users who have disabilities. Two technical subparts that refer to the accessibility of E&IT:
- Software Applications and Operating Systems (§1194.21)
- Web-based Intranet and Internet Information and Applications (§1194.22)
This training provides explanations of the Section 508 requirements for web-based internet and intranet information and applications set forth in paragraphs (a) through (p) of §1194.22, Web-based Internet and Intranet Information and Applications.
The goal of this course is to enable testers and product developers to understand the principles of accessible web design as they relate to Section 508, and to recognize whether or not those requirements have been met.
