  5. As we remember the decade after the tragedy of 9/11, it must be proudly noted that through the grief of a nation shone a steely resolve to search for justice and a unified ambition to heal our wounds as a society. Today, we stand together in remembrance of those who lost their lives that day, in sustained vigilance against those who might harm the United States, and in support of the individuals who sacrifice of themselves daily in order to protect those whom we love and the rights we hold dear.
