The meaningful use of patient-facing e-health applications has great potential to improve the quality and efficiency of health and health care. Particularly for people with chronic conditions, research demonstrates that patient activation, chronic care self-management, and shared decision making with their clinicians can have a substantial impact on effectively managing their health. This post is now closed for comments.  We appreciate your input on the Strategic Framework.  Your comments will be reviewed by the Workgroup and considered as it prepares its final draft.

The Health IT Policy Committee’s Strategic Plan Workgroup was charged to develop recommendations to ONC for consideration as it updates the 2008 Federal Health IT Strategic Plan. The workgroup, with input from the full policy committee and the public, has produced a draft, which will be the subject of a listening session on April 6.  The draft Framework is posted for public comment. HIT Standards Committee 3/24: Meeting Summary

On March 24th, the HIT Standards Committee held a meeting in Washington, DC. To begin, Elizabeth Johnson, Implementation Workgroup member and Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s Vice President of Applied Clinical Informatics, gave an update from the Implementation Workgroup Report on the Implementation Starter Kit Hearing.
