DR. CHARLES REES' MICROMANIPULATOR ENABLED RESEARCHERS TO ISOLATE SINGLE SPECIES OF BACTERIUM IN CULTURE FOR STUDY CA 1938
The DeWitt Stetten, Jr., Museum of Medical Research preserves, documents, and interprets the history of the National Institutes of Health through its material culture. The Museum collection focuses on scientific instruments important to the history of medical research at the NIH, especially instruments designed at the NIH. The collection also contains non-scientific artifacts relating to the general history of the NIH, such as clothing, paintings, and gifts to the directors. The collections are used in physical and virtual exhibits and can be loaned to certified public institutions. The Museum also maintains a reference library, a manuals collection, and a trade catalog collection.
