About Internal Enforcement

The Civil Rights Center's Internal Enforcement program is responsible for ensuring equal employment opportunity for all Department of Labor (DOL) employees and applicants for employment, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, parental status, sexual orientation, and/or genetic information. The Office of Internal Enforcement is responsible for counseling aggrieved complainants, offering alternative dispute resolution (ADR), investigating complaints, issuing agency decisions on complaints, establishing policies, and assigning responsibility for complying with and enforcement of equal employment opportunity laws that are applicable to Federal employment at DOL.

How to File a Complaint with Internal Enforcement

In order to file a complaint, the complainant (a DOL employee or DOL job applicant) must contact an EEO Counselor within 45 calendar days of an alleged discriminatory action, or in the case of a personnel action, within 45 calendar days of the effective date of the action. An EEO Counselor will conduct an initial interview with the complainant, and must begin fact-finding and attempt to resolve the matter informally within 30 calendar days from the date of the initial interview.
