An Australian army sapper plants plastic explosive devices during Talisman Sabre 2011 at Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Queensland, Australia, July 15, 2011. The sapper is assigned to the Australian army's 2nd Troop, 1st Field Squadron, 1st Combat Engineer Regiment. Talisman Sabre is a bilateral exercise to train U.S. and Australian forces in combined operations to improve combat readiness and interoperability.

U.S. Service Members Compete in the Triathlon Event at the 5th CISM Military World Games
U.S. Air Force Maj. James Bales, competitor number 98, races in the triathlon event at the 5th International Military Sports Council World Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 24, 2011. The games are aimed at fostering peace and friendship among the 7,000 troops from more than 100 countries participating. The United States teams garnered five medals in the games, while Brazil and China were the top earners with 114 and 99 medals respectively.

William Lagares and team members from McConnell Air Force Base, Kan., to Air Mobility Rodeo 2011 on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., July 23, 2011. Olekszyk is assigned to the 62nd Airlift Wing. Elder is the commander of the 62nd Airlift Wing. Martin is the director of operations assigned to the Air Mobility Command. Air Mobility Rodeo is the U.S. Air Force's and Air Mobility Command's premier international combat skill and flying operations competition designed to develop and improve techniques, procedures and interoperability, while optimizing international mobility partnerships and enhancing mobility operations.
