Recipients of COPS grants receive by mail an official congratulatory letter, an Award Document, a Financial Clearance Memo, and instructions on accepting their awards. Additional information about accepting and managing COPS grants and program-specific instructions and resources are included in this on-line award package. Recovery.gov COPS Hiring 
Recovery Program (CHRP)

Provides 100 percent funding for 3 years for approved entry-level salaries and benefits for newly-hired, full-time sworn officer positions or for rehired officers who have been laid off, or are scheduled to be laid off.

2009 COPS Methamphetamine Initiative

A targeted/non-discretionary funding initiative that provides direct funding to establish and enhance a variety of problem-solving strategies that will encourage community policing efforts that combat the use and distribution of methamphetamine.

A targeted/non-discretionary program that provides direct funding for the continued development of technologies and automated systems to assist in investigating, responding to, and preventing crime.

2009 COPS Safe Schools Initiative

A targeted/non-discretionary funding initiative that provides direct funding to state and local agencies to assist in delinquency prevention, community planning and development, school safety resources, and technology development. This funding will allow recipients the opportunity to establish and enhance a variety of school and community safety equipment and/or programs to encourage the continuation and advancement of child welfare efforts within their communities.

2009 Child Sexual Predator Program

A targeted/non-discretionary funding initiative that provides direct funding to law enforcement agencies to establish and/or enhance strategies to locate, arrest, and prosecute child sexual predators and exploiters and to enforce state sex offender registration laws.

2009 COPS Tribal Resources Grant Program

A targeted/non-discretionary funding initiative that provides funding directly to Federally Recognized Tribal jurisdictions with established law enforcement agencies to expand the implementation of community policing and meet the most serious needs of law enforcement in tribal communities through a broadened comprehensive program.

2009 COPS Secure Our Schools (SOS)

Provides funding to municipalities to assist with the development of school safety resources. SOS funding will allow recipients the opportunity to establish and enhance a variety of school safety equipment and/or programs to encourage the continuation and enhancement of school safety efforts within their communities.
