Soldiers Conduct Operation Bessemer
U.S. Army soldiers sit aboard a CH-47 Chinook helicopter during a pre-dawn air assault near Bayji, Iraq, Aug. 21, 2008. The soldiers are assigned to the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. Along with Iraqi soldiers, the Screaming Eagles conducted “Operation Bessemer,” which was designed to clear rural areas of suspected extremists in the area.

Bremer Competes in Olympic Men's Modern Pentathlon
U.S. Air Force World Class Athlete Program Capt. Eli Bremer, left, squares off against Mexico's Oscar Soto in the epee one-touch fencing portion of the Olympic men's modern pentathlon in Beijing, Aug. 21, 2008. Bremer had 14 victories and 21 defeats worth 736 modern pentathlon points to finish in a four-way tie for 29th place in fencing. He finished 23rd overall with a modern pentathlon total of 5,204 points in the event that consists of pistol shooting, fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping and running.
