What is the CDC Science Ambassador Workshop?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) invites middle and high school STEM* educators to attend a 5-day professional development workshop held each year in Atlanta, Georgia.
During the workshop, CDC scientists present information on health topics and collaborate with participants to develop challenging and innovative public health-based lesson plans that meet National Science Education Standards.
By incorporating public health topics into classroom instruction, the educators can demonstrate the practical application of science and mathematics to address domestic and global health problems. Teaching these topics can foster students' interest in public health.
