Mission

The Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Administrative Investigations investigates and oversees investigations of allegations regarding the misconduct of senior DoD officials, both civilian and military; whistleblower reprisal against service members, defense contractor employees and DoD civilian employees (appropriated and nonappropriated fund); and improper command referrals of service members for mental health evaluations.

  • Strengthen oversight of reprisal and senior official investigations conducted by Service/Defense Agency Inspectors General

  • Investigation into “leak” of DoD survey regarding repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy to national media
  • Investigation into Rolling Stone article, “Runaway General,” regarding alleged controversial comments about the administration
  • Investigation into improper referral of a service member for a mental health evaluation; and restriction of a service member from communicating with a Member of Congress
  • Investigation into contractor whistleblower reprisal under American Reinvestment and Recovery Act
