Colonel Terrence L. Murrill, is a 1991 distinguished military graduate from South Carolina State University, where he earned a BS in Marketing.  He holds a Master of Military Studies from Marine Corps University’s Command and General Staff College, a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies and Theology from the Minnesota Graduate School of Theology.     
Commissioned as an Infantry Officer, his initial military assignment was at Fort Riley, Kansas, with the 1st Battalion 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division.  He served in various infantry company grade positions until promoted to Captain and selected to serve as the 2nd Brigade Assistant S2.  After attending the Military Intelligence Transition and Advance Courses at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, he was assigned to III Corps at Fort Hood with an initial assignment as Deputy G-2, 13th COSCOM.  He was later assigned as Assistant S2, 3rd Brigade and later S2 for 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division.  Colonel Murrill commanded Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 104th Military Intelligence Battalion, 4th Infantry Division.  Colonel Murrill served as the Captains and later the Majors Military Intelligence Assignments Officer at the Human Resources Command.  His next assignment was Executive Officer, 532nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 501st Military Intelligence Brigade, Yongsan, Korea.  Colonel Murrill was then assigned as an Intelligence Team Chief and later Military Executive Officer to the Deputy Director of the Defense Joint Intelligence Operations Center at the Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C.  He assumed command of the Indianapolis Recruiting Battalion in 2007 and later deployed to Afghanistan as the Chief of Operations in the Information Operations Directorate, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command.  His most recent assignment was as a Special Assistant to the Army Chief of Staff at the Pentagon, Washington, DC.
Colonel Murrill’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Ranger Tab, and the Expert Infantryman’s Badge.  He is a graduate of the Airborne, Infantry Mortar Leaders Officer Course, and the Bradley Commander Courses.  Additionally, he is a recipient of the coveted General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award. 
Colonel Murrill and his wife have two children.

Command Sergeant Major Len E. Godwin, enlisted in the Army in 1981 as a graduate of Southview High School in North Carolina.  He completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His initial assignment was with the 3/3rd Field Artillery Battalion located at Fort Knox, Kentucky as a Cannon Crewmember.  Throughout his career as a Field Artilleryman, he also served duties at Camp Page, Korea, and Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Sergeant Major Godwin was selected for recruiting duty in 1988 and was assigned to the Louisville Recruiting Battalion with duty at the Preston Highway Recruiting Station.  He has served in various duty positions such as Recruiter, On Production Station Commander, Limited Production Station Commander, Recruiter Trainer, Operations NCO, Guidance Counselor, Senior Guidance Counselor, and First Sergeant of the Raleigh Recruiting Battalion.  He has served as the Command Sergeant Major of the Oklahoma City Recruiting Battalion, 6th Recruiting Brigade, and Raleigh Recruiting Battalion. He served as the Sergeant Major for the Recruiting Department of the Recruiting and Retention School and currently as Command Sergeant Major of the school. Sergeant Major Godwin's accomplishments include Distinguished Graduate from the Primary Leadership Development Course as well as the Distinguished Graduate from the Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course. He is a graduate from the Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, Department of the Army First Sergeant Course and Department of the Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officers Academy (equivalent to the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy).  Additionally, he has also graduated from the Army Recruiter Course, Station Commanders Course and the Guidance Counselors Course. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with 9 oak leaf clusters, Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon and the Service ribbon.  He has earned the United States Army Gold Recruiter Badge, the Recruiter Ring and the Glen E. Morrell Award for Recruiting Excellence.

RRS now graduates all students in the ASU or Class A's with all awards. ALL STUDENTS must bring their DA Form 348 or OF 346 Military Drivers License. All students will report to the lodging office, all personnel housed off post will not receive a statement of non-availability, they will receive a statement from USAREC authorizing full per deim!

Recruiting and Retention School students are prohibited from bringing privately owned weapons to school. If circumstances do not allow the student store the weapon prior to their arrival to Fort Jackson, the following practices or activities must occur:


1) Upon arrival, the student will notify the gate guard that they have a privately owned weapon in the vehicle, and turn the weapon over to the guard.

2) The student will report to the Strom Thurmond Bldg on the first duty day, room # 226, to register their weapon using FJ Form 190-11-100.

3) The student will make coordination with the RRS Ops NCO to have the weapon transferred to a designated arms room to be stored until their graduation date.

Note:  It is prohibited to keep privately owned weapons in vehicles, even when properly secured, while at work, or while attending to other business on the installation.

Purpose: To teach prospective Recruiter’s interpersonal, conceptual, technical, and tactical skills and ensures mastery of those skills through practical application and evaluation that reflects the contemporary operating environment in recruiting.
Scope: The curriculum is designed to provide training in the principles of leadership, eligibility, technology systems, interpersonal communications, Army Programs, time management, prospecting, and interviewing which ultimately support the accomplishment of USAREC’s mission.
