Supervisor/Manager

Supervisors and Managers at the NIH foster a workplace culture that is results-oriented, serves customers, and builds successful teams and coalitions internally and externally. They influence strategic change to meet organizational goals in a continuously changing environment. Supervisors and Managers lead people toward meeting the NIH’s vision, mission, and goals by providing an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, supports constructive resolution of conflicts, and holds employees accountable for performance. They make high-quality decisions that produce results by applying technical knowledge, analyzing problems and calculating risks. A component of this role may also include managing human, financial, and information resources strategically.

The near right column lists NIH Training Center programs, services and courses of interest to Supervisors and Managers.

Additional courses that may be of interest to Administrative Supervisors and Managers may be found in the "I am an Administrative Professional" section.

Training is now required of all new supervisors within one year of appointment. See our NIH-wide Mandatory Supervisory Training page for more information.
