Availability
Wireless Priority Service (WPS) is available wherever
AT&T provides digital wireless voice service on its GSM network, with the exception of Alaska. WPS coverage in Alaska will be available in 4Q 2009 as a result of AT&T’s acquisition of Dobson wireless, a former AT&T roaming partner. Check this web site in October for updates. In Canada, AT&T WPS callers will receive radio channel priority queuing by dialing *272 when roaming in Rogers Wireless service areas.
Please note that when roaming, WPS functionality may be available
on other GSM WPS-enabled networks (such as T-Mobile). WPS functionality
is not available when roaming on GSM networks that are not WPS enabled
or in service areas not covered by intercarrier roaming agreements.
Service Requests
WPS is requested for AT&T’s wireless service
users through the on-line GETS-WPS Information Delivery Service
(G-WIDS). See the Program Information section on how to obtain a
Point of Contact (POC) User ID and password to access G-WIDS. The
following information is needed to complete the on-line WPS service
request for AT&T’s wireless service users:
- Each User’s 10 Digit Cellular Telephone Number
- The appropriate AT&T Account Number. Accounts may have one
or more users. WPS charges will appear on this account.
Upon service activation an email is sent to
the POC and user advising that WPS has been activated. Users should
make a WPS test call when they are notified of service activation.
If the user is unable to complete the test call they should call
the user assistance number, located on the back of the GETS card.
That number is 1-800-818-4387 or 1-703-818-4387.
