Our privacy policy is clear: Unless you choose to provide additional information to us, we will collect no personal information about you other than statistical information that can be used to make the site more effective for all our visitors.

 

Privacy Policy - General

If you visit the MyMoney.gov web site to read or download information, we collect and store only the following information about you: the name of the domain from which you access the Internet (for example, xcompany.com if you are using a private internet access account) and/or the name and Internet Protocol address of the domain from which you access the Internet (for example, 123.456.789.012); the date and time you access our site; and the Internet address of the web site from which you linked directly to our site. We will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our site unless you voluntarily choose to provide such information to us. We do not give, sell or transfer personal information to third parties unless required by law, such as the Freedom of Information Act.

For site management, information is collected for statistical purposes. Computer software programs are used to create summary statistics about visits to the MyMoney.gov web site which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. No information subject to the Privacy Act, such as name and address, is collected or used for this analysis. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration Guidance. We do not use cookies or tracking mechanisms that collect personally-identifying information on our web site.

Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits.

Generally, individuals are strongly discouraged from sending any personal information, like a social security number, to the MyMoney.gov “Contact Us” link or any government e-mail address. It may be necessary to collect personally identifiable information (name and address), but only if specifically and knowingly provided by you (for example, when you fill out and send a “My Money” Tool Kit request form.). Personally identifying information you provide by ordering a “My Money” Tool Kit will be used only for the purposes described below.

 

Privacy Policy – Ordering a “My Money” Tool Kit

You may choose to provide personal information (name and address) by completing the “My Money” Tool Kit request form. Ordering a “My Money” Tool Kit is voluntary. By furnishing the requested information, you are deemed to have consented to our use of the information. The information you provide will be used only for the reasons you provided.

Your personal information will not be retained any longer than is necessary to provide the service. Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, or as otherwise required by law, your personal information will not be sold or shared with any party other than the General Services Administration (GSA). The information you submit, including your name, mailing address, and the quantity of tool kits you request to fulfill your order, is directly transmitted via an encrypted file to the GSA Pueblo distribution facility. The information you submit on the request form is received by the GSA Federal Citizen Information Center, so it can fulfill your request. On a regular basis, once your request is processed, GSA deletes any information you have provided from its electronic records.

The confidentiality of Internet transactions is not guaranteed. You must decide if you want to assume the risk that an unauthorized person may learn your e-mail address or other information you provide as it is transmitted.

NOTE FOR CHILDREN, PARENTS AND TEACHERS: : If you are an individual under the age of 13 and wish to order a “My Money” Tool Kit, please have an adult fill out the form using his or her personal information. As part of our efforts to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we do not direct our online form to, nor do we knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 13.
