There are strong indications that the suspect in the shooting of several police officers in the LA area died yesterday in a shootout and cabin barricade in Big Bear. As a result, the base is returning to normal security postures at LAAFB, Pacific Crest and Pacific Heights. The pedestrian turnstiles are operational and the Aviation gate will be open this afternoon. As soon as it's confirmed that the suspect is dead, Fort Mac will return to its normal security posture as well.
An Operational Readiness Exercise will be held, Feb. 14. Visitors can expect delays and possible involvement in exercise scenarios.
