MDA Environmental Management Program

The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) is committed to continual improvement of its Environmental Program.

The MDA will strive to integrate environmental requirements into systems engineering processes and long-term planning to minimize the lifecycle environmental impacts of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).

The MDA will accomplish its environmental stewardship by:

  • Complying with statutory and regulatory environmental requirements,
  • Pursuing pollution prevention as the preferred means of meeting existing or emerging environmental requirements,
  • Establishing and updating environmental objectives and targets,
  • Using "green" procurement and technologies where practical to efficiently conserve resources over the BMDS lifecycle,
  • Conserving and sustaining cultural and natural resources at host test ranges, installations, and facilities, and
  • Providing MDA personnel and contractors with environmental awareness training and recognizing and rewarding outstanding environmental stewardship.
