Attorney General Eric Holder speaks a the U.S. Marshals Service Director’s Award Ceremony to celebrate Director Clark’s commitment to the cause of justice and also, remember Court Security Officer Stanley Cooper. Cooper was killed that past January as he joined other CSOs, deputies, and detention enforcement officer in defending Lloyd George.

Cooper, 72, died from gunshot wounds in January 2010 suffered in defending a security checkpoint in a Las Vegas federal building. Officer Cooper had been a federally deputized court security officer for 15 years. Your work has enhanced one of our nation’s oldest, and most impressive, traditions of service. You’ve assessed potential security threats and planned and provided security for terrorist detainee trials. You’ve ensured the safety of health care providers and enforced the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. You’ve seized and managed the assets of Bernard Madoff, Allen Stanford and others engaged in financial fraud.
