  Welcome to the USGS Wyoming Water Science Center. These pages are your source for water-resource information collected and interpreted by the U.S. Geological Survey in Wyoming. Here you'll find information on Wyoming's rivers and streams. You'll also find information about ground water, water quality, and many other topics. The USGS operates the most extensive satellite network of stream-gaging stations in the state, many of which form the backbone of flood-warning systems.
Wyoming Monitoring NetworksThe USGS Wyoming Water Science Center continuously monitors surface water, ground water, and water quality parameters across the state. Monitoring sites are operated in cooperation with various local, State, or Federal agencies. 
Surface WaterWater-stage and streamflow are continuously monitored by the USGS in Wyoming at 145 sites across the state. 
GroundwaterWater levels are continuously monitored by the USGS in Wyoming at 7 sites across the state.

Coupled Real-time Streambank Piezometer and Gaging Station
Hydrologists from the USGS Wyoming Water Science Center are demonstrating the feasibility and utility of including groundwater level and temperature data from shallow streambank piezometers with existing suites of real-time data collected and transmitted at active gaging station. Whether you are watching for floods, interested in recreational activities or concerned about the quality of water in your well, WaterAlert allows you to receive daily or hourly updates about current conditions in rivers, lakes and groundwater when they match conditions of concern to you. The maps utilize zoom and pan to allow you to focus in on the water-monitoring sites that interest you. The maps show current streamflow as compared to historical records. By hovering your mouse over a site, a popup box shows the most recent stage and streamflow. Recent Reports
