Trauma / Domestic Violence
Domestic violence can be a catalyst for homelessness. Thirty-nine percent of cities surveyed in 2007 cited domestic violence as the primary cause of family homelessness (U.S. Conference of Mayors, 2007). This page includes research that explores the complex relationship between domestic violence and homelessness and related issues like trauma, immigration, poverty, and abuse.

See also the Trauma-Informed Care topic page to learn more about best practices for serving people who have experienced trauma.
